Destination Dreamin'

This time last year, I embarked on a little solo getaway to the Starved Rock area in Illinois. On my solo adventure, I cooked over the campfire, hiked, read, and wrote. In hindsight, I’m so happy I took this time for myself because little did I know I’d have a newborn baby this year! I stayed in a Postcard Cabin, (formerly known as Getaway) for my perfect little retreat. These cabins are ideal for people who love being in nature and crave solitude, but still want a flushing toilet while they are on vacation. I’ve done my time as a real camper, but honestly, it isn’t my style. These cabins have destinations throughout the country and their prices vary largely by season, so it’s perfect for an off-season retreat.

What Inspired Me This Week…

If you watched the Super Bowl this week, it would have been hard to miss the stunning piano Jon Batiste played for his iconic rendition of the National Anthem. This work of art was painted by his wife Suleika Jaouad. Suleika is an artist and writer in her own right who openly shares her journey with luekemia. Her story is featured in the music documentary, American Symphony, but perhaps a way to get to know her even better is through her newsletter “The Isolation Journals.” If you’re looking for something a little lighter, watch the couple’s Architectural Digest tour, it’s one of my favorites.

Travel Deals

Aer Lingus, Ireland’s premier airline, is offering deals to Europe this week! If you are flying from Boston, Chicago, New York, or Cleveland, there are deals to countries such as Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, and more. The interactive map they have on their website makes it perfect to plan out your dream itinerary!
