Destination Dreamin'

This week I can’t get my mind off of Fez, Morocco. The first time I stepped foot in this city was back in 2016. It was my first study abroad experience and I can vividly remember packing alongside my sister to get all of our joint belongings into one suitcase for three weeks. We were haggling, (a skill which became useful to us once we arrived at the medina) over which shirt and scarf to bring, how we were going to fit in our host mother’s gift, and if it was practical to pack 5 hardcover books. We were completely bewildered at the thought of going to North Africa with our small cohort of college students. Fast forward to now, and I can’t imagine how different my life would have been if I hadn’t experienced the generosity of my hajjah, (my host mother), the discomfort of not speaking the local language, and the peace that filled the city when the call to prayer rang out across the minarets on Friday afternoon. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to go back!

What Inspired Me This Week…

It’s a bit impossible not to be inspired by the 2024 Olympics this past week! I’ve been reading every interview I can get my hands on, but mostly I’ve been eating up the sprinter documentary: Sprint, The World’s Fastest Humans.

Travel Deals

I’m always on the hunt for flight deals in the shoulder season! Head to beautiful Guatemala City for less than $300 between August-November. Beautiful black sand beaches, miles of ocean, and volcanoes, what’s not to love!?
